If you’re looking for an ideal community for retirement or simply a well-deserved vacation, look no further than Serenbe, Georgia. Serenbe is a community absolutely bursting with amenities to support its residents’ and visitors’ physical, mental and emotional well-being. This captivating community, nestled in the rolling hills south of Atlanta, offers a haven of relaxation, delicious food, and charming Southern hospitality. On a recent weekend adventure, I experienced the perfect blend of unwinding, indulging, and creating lasting memories with my best friend, Suzanne.

Our home for the long weekend was an elegant and well-appointed condo called The Duck in the heart of The Hamlet. The condo, owned and operated by the Inn at Serenbe, came with all of the amenities afforded to those staying at the Inn. We were welcomed with fresh baked cookies, bottled water, and warm smiles. We checked into our home away from home and spent the afternoon on our golf cart exploring the neighborhood.

The architecture is breathtaking and utterly unique. Each small neighborhood within the community has its own vibe and style, and there are houses of all shapes and sizes. We parked our golf cart and wandered through charming boutiques and art galleries, discovering unique handcrafted treasures and locally-made treats. Each purchase we made felt personal, supporting the artisans who contribute to the vibrant community spirit of Serenbe.

The smiles and welcoming spirit of all of the community’s roughly 1000 residents - including young families, retirees, and weekend refugees from Atlanta - were infectious, and we felt an overwhelming sense of calm. True to the origin of its name, Serenbe is so serene and beautiful, you cannot help but feel instantly relaxed.

My first act leaning into the serenity vibe was a restorative yoga class at Serenbe Yoga + Bodyworks. Nestled amongst the trees, the studio offered a tranquil environment where I could focus on deep stretches and mindful breathing. While I was unwinding in the yoga studio, Suzanne enjoyed a visit to the amazing spa for a hot stone massage. We both emerged from our respective activities feeling tranquil and rejuvenated, ready to conquer the day.

The sparkling pool at The Inn at Serenbe became our afternoon haven. Surrounded by lush greenery, it was the perfect spot to soak up the Georgia sun, lounge on a swinging bed, and cool off in the crystal-clear water.

Fueling up for our adventures was another essential part of the daily experience at Serenbe. Blue Eyed Daisy, with its vibrant atmosphere and delicious breakfast menu, became a morning favorite. Fluffy pancakes smothered in local berries, savory egg scrambles, and steaming cups of coffee fueled our explorations.

Evenings were dedicated to indulging in Serenbe's remarkable culinary scene. Dinner at the Farmhouse Restaurant was a delightful farm-to-table experience. The rustic ambiance and seasonal dishes showcased the bounty of the surrounding Serenbe Farms. Another night, we ventured to The Hill restaurant, where the upscale yet comfortable setting offered everything from succulent steaks to melt-in-your-mouth pasta dishes. We enjoyed some delicious wellness-focused food with casual meals and snacks at Halsa and Bamboo Juices.

Of course, no girls' getaway is complete without indulging in some well-deserved wine. Our condo was located directly above The Wine Shop at Serenbe, and we were delighted by the extensive selection. With expert guidance from the friendly staff, we chose the perfect pairing for our charcuterie board, sourced from the delicious options available at The General Store. Back in our cozy condo, we sat out on our balcony above the village and watched the sun go down.

For a quieter moment of connection with nature, we took a stroll along one of Serenbe's many lush green paths. We stopped by to pet the horses at the community stable, and walked along the Serenbe gardens exploding with flowers and fresh fruits and vegetables. Breathing in the fresh air and surrounded by the calming beauty of the Georgia countryside, we fell completely under Serebe’s magic spell.

When it was time to leave Serenbe, we lamented how short our visit seemed and both remarked how lovely it would be to live there. We left with a renewed sense of well-being and some treasured memories. This girls' getaway was more than just a weekend escape – it was an immersion into a lifestyle that prioritizes wellness, connection, indulgence, and a love for all things local. Until next time, Serenbe!
