Nestled in the heart of the North Georgia mountains, Blue Ridge offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal spot for a girls' weekend away. Over the last decade, its popularity has grown as a travel destination for the surrounding cities, meaning we’ve seen the local amenities flourish but it’s still managed to keep its quaint charm. My mother, sister and I have made it an annual pilgrimage over the last five or so years, and it’s a trip I always come back from with my heart, mind, and body feeling rejuvenated.

Whether you're looking to reconnect with nature, explore charming boutiques, or simply indulge in some well-deserved pampering, this picturesque town has it all. Fall is often considered the best time to visit, with its vibrant foliage and apple-picking season, but spring and summer are also excellent options. Winter holds its own special charm, but there tends to be less available activities. For this trip, the ultimate plan is to rejuvenate your spirits with a luxurious spa day at Serenity in the Mountains. I like to book a cozy cabin through Airbnb or one of the many local cabin rental sites. Whether you're looking for a secluded hideaway or something closer to town, there's a cabin for every preference.

Friday Evening: Arrival and Local Flavors

Kick off your weekend with a leisurely drive through the rolling hills of North Georgia, arriving in Blue Ridge just in time for a sunset dinner. Head to Harvest on Main, a beloved local spot known for its farm-to-table Southern cuisine. Order a glass of wine and toast to the weekend ahead while savoring dishes like shrimp and grits or pecan-crusted trout which is caught locally. Be sure to make reservations for this spot prior, though, as they tend to fill up. After dinner, take a stroll down Main Street to get a feel for the town's cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Saturday Morning: Spa Day at Serenity in the Mountains

The focal point of your weekend getaway, Serenity in the Mountains, is a haven of tranquility. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the stress start to melt away in this serene retreat, perfectly balancing upscale spa treatments with a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. I recommend making your reservations at least a month in advance to ensure availability, as last-minute bookings can be tricky, especially for larger groups.

Spend the morning indulging in their extensive array of services, from deeply relaxing massages to personalized facials that leave your skin glowing. I’ve yet to personally try it, but their Himalayan Salt Cave is a unique find with air infused therapeutic salt particles designed to reduce inflammation, improve respiratory health, and rejuvenate your skin. It offers both physical and mental benefits as you relax in one of their zero-gravity chairs.

For larger groups, Serenity in the Mountains also offers private spaces where you and your friends can unwind together between treatments. Savor the moment with a visit to the Serenity Cafe, a cozy spot within the spa that serves a selection of light spa bites and delicious coffee beverages. Their menu changes seasonally.

If you're planning to immerse yourself fully in the spa experience, consider staying overnight in one of their luxury suites right on site. Designed in the same beautiful mountain cabin style as the spa, these suites are reserved exclusively for spa guests and provide the perfect setting to continue your relaxation well into the evening. You and your group can enjoy a two-night stay complete with spa packages, daily continental breakfast, and even wine and cheese waiting in your suite.

A morning at Serenity in the Mountains is more than just a spa visit—it’s a journey to complete relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you choose to stay for a few hours or the entire weekend, you’ll leave feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready for whatever the rest of your getaway has in store.

Saturday Afternoon: Lunch and Leisure

After a morning of pampering, it's time to indulge in a little more relaxation. Head to Cantaberry’s for a cozy lunch—be sure to try their famous wild rice soup, which is absolutely life-changing. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll down E. Main Street, exploring the charming boutiques along the way. Treat yourself to a cupcake from The Sweet Shoppe, made famous by their victory on Cupcake Wars. Pick up a to-go order of wings from Chester’s to snack on later that night and head back to the cabin for a lazy afternoon lounging around or enjoying the hot tub.

If you’re up for a bit more excitement later, consider catching a double feature at the nostalgic Swan Drive-In Theater. But sometimes, all you need is a bottle of wine, a fire pit, and a good chat with your girls under the stars to cap off the perfect day.

Sunday Morning: A Scenic Brunch and Farm Visit

On your final morning, enjoy brunch at The Black Sheep. Their Southern Eggs Benedict, served with a side of fried green tomatoes, is delectable. After wrapping up brunch, head over to Mercier Orchards, a fourth-generation local farm with an extensive “U-Pick” calendar, market & bakery, and hard cider & winery. It’s easy to pick or purchase a tasty treat for later in the week here.

Sunday Afternoon: Lasting Memories and Future Plans

As you pack up and head home, you’ll leave Blue Ridge with more than just souvenirs. Whether it’s the peaceful moments at the spa, the laughter over shared meals, or the beauty of the mountains, this weekend is bound to be one you’ll want to recreate again.

Blue Ridge, with its blend of natural beauty and small-town charm, truly is a wonderful destination for a girls' trip that balances relaxation, exploration, and connection.
